Accidental Influencers

I'm not sure how and when it happened, but we've become influencers. I'm also not sure what exactly that means, so I did what we all do, I googled it.

Images, words and even videos came up on the subject. None of them felt like us or looked like us.

We're basically influencers who aren't. When we decided to go on our TikTok adventure in 2022, we had no idea what was in store. Viral videos, tens of thousands of new friends from all over the world, people curious about the old church we live in, little snippets of our personal life, creative life, personality traits and other things that sometimes have me wondering why.

So back to the influencer thing. I guess it started when people on social media started buying things I made in the studio, right here from this very website. I had sold online before, but most of my business would walk through the doors of our church home & studio to purchase. Now it was scrambling to get the labels and shipping right, pricing right, and not lose sight of what my hands can make in relation to how much I sell. It's limited, as I'm just one person. A creator of one. A staff of one. A shipper of one. Truthfully I like it that way. Typically I make something on a live and it sells out before I ever even have time to put it on this website.

Now along the way of gaining traction in the world of social media, we've been approached by hundreds of companies to make videos for their products. Some do offer money, most offer a free product, all for you to make a commercial of a variety of products. We did this first with a little remote control car. It was weird, fun, earned no money and Morton liked it. That was over a year ago. Then it was it the flood gates opened and we got a variety of offers.

Morton and I are not actors. We're ordinary people approaching an age most people retire. We live in our own little dream world we've created and we both believe in honesty, transparency and being real. We've said no to almost every single offer, but there are a few, you'll see them in our social media, that we truly love and feel great about recommending.

During saying no a lot, we got an offer to become part of the Amazon influencer program. I admit, I was excited about this. I use Amazon a lot. Weekly and sometimes daily. I know others have asked us where we get things, and I had been in the Amazon affiliate program and would share links for things like our starry night projector LINK HERE that people really want to buy as well.

This has been the first month of actually having a storefront where we can put out links in, that I do in list forms, and I'd love for you to check it out and tell me what you think.

Since I'm spending most of my days working on projects in our old church, looking after Morton, making videos to share on social media, and connecting with people from around the planet, I have to admit, I thought our first month being an influencer would earn more than the $11 it did. I know things take time to build and grow.

I'd love to get any tips you have, remember that if we aren't sincere about something, we aren't going to do it. So I don't want to just fill it with random things.

Thanks for being here, for helping, for sharing this lovely journey called life with us. You're greatly appreciated.

Hugs,
Priscilla
