Blooming Spring

April is almost finished and our weather has been a bit confused. Temperatures soared into the 80's while I was in Florida writing the final chapters of my book, How I Met My Morton, and it seems that instead of bringing everyone home some Florida sunshine, I brought the cold stuff.

The plants are all doing great, my perennials are peeking out of the soil and some of them are absolutely showing off. The lilacs this year are a particularly commotion causing showstopper. We have delicate white blooms that look as if the snowballs and bridal wreath has got mixed up with a lilac bush, we have pale blues that are pushing the buds but not blooming yet, we have classic lilacs and then deep purple French lilacs. All have the garden smelling like the sweetest place on earth.

There's one shy pink lilac that is still just thinking about coming out. It's taking it's time because guess what it does? Blooms all summer long, over and over. It smells lovely, though not quite as strong as it's purple cousins do. The flowers are just stunning, clustered around the stem, the tiny little blossoms hold on together to created a full sized bloom.

Our lily-of-the-valley are growing and spreading and this year I fully intend to press as many as I can, in an old flower press with a lovely picture of a mouse on it, that is one of the first things that Morton ever bought me at a charity shop in Scotland. I love it dearly and enjoy using it to create memories as well as art.

What's blooming in your garden right now? Why not leave us a little comment and stick around, the best is yet to come.
Hugs,
Priscilla
